CRA San Diego Nominates Gina Patterson to Board of Directors

R.W. Smith & Co.’s Business Development Director, Gina Patterson, recently won a coveted seat on the Board of Directors of the San Diego Chapter of the California Restaurant Association. When a seat opened up on the Board, Patterson was invited to apply, and she received unanimous nomination. The board boasts 36 members, 15 of whom are Service Providers, including Patterson.
Board seats carry a three-year term, and members are required to serve on at least one committee during their tenure. Patterson has served on the Special Events Committee for the past two years, and will continue to participate on this committee through the duration of her term. The committee focuses on organizing industry events for CRA members, such as networking mixers, San Diego Restaurant Week, and the distinguished Gold Medallion Awards.
The CRA provides leadership, direction, training and educational tools for the restaurant industry. It also builds community relationships among customers and restaurant operators by organizing local food events. For more information, visit www.calrest.prg.

Recently, Sharp was responsible for restructuring Carlisle’s sales management team by market segment and leading continued double-digit growth in their global markets, including Europe, Asia and Latin America.

In 2010, R.W. Smith & Co. celebrated 75 years of service in the foodservice industry.
Established in 1935 by Rube Smith, we have grown vastly throughout the years, from a local bar supplier to a leading U.S. dealer of restaurant supplies and equipment. In 1975, our Commercial Kitchen Design & Build division was launched. Today, the division provides project and field management, contract administration, preventative maintenance, estimating, and CAD operation services by a team of trained design professionals with combined experience of over 150 years.
In 1984, the Controlled Environmental Rooms division was developed to meet the needs of bio-tech and other industries. Since its inception, the division has installed hundreds of customized rooms for a multitude of organizations, including universities, pharmaceutical companies, drug manufacturing facilities, and research and development companies.
Over the years, we have celebrated many accomplishments. In 2002, R.W. Smith & Co. became 100% employee owned and operated, and each employee-owner shares the responsibility for our growth and prosperity. In 1989, and again in 2011, we were recognized as "Dealer of the Year" from Foodservice Equipment & Supplies, the leading publication in the foodservice industry. We also received FE&S' Top Achiever award in 2006.

In May 2011, Foodservice Equipment & Supplies Magazine honored R.W. Smith & Co. with their most prestigious award. The company was recognized as the FE&S 2011 Dealer of the Year as a result of its open corporate culture, ongoing training and employee-driven success.
According to FE&S, the publication "is the one media source that connects equipment and supplies manufacturers and service providers with the full distribution channel including foodservice operators, E&S dealers, and facility design consultants."
Each year, FE&S recognizes the best of the foodservice industry at their annual industry awards gala. This is the second Dealer of the Year Award for R.W. Smith & Co, who first received the honor in 1989. The company was also recognized by FE&S as Top Achiever in 2006.
